Warner Bros film studio said the film The Dark Knight Rises earned revenues of USD 160.8 million at the box office for the United States and Canada this weekend.
The low income of the first weekend was well below analysts' estimates. The main triggers can be caused by the mass shooting at a theater in Colorado.
As reported by Reuters, Warner Bros., did not give any comment other than to announce the total income from tickets, Monday (23/07) local time.
The Dark Knight Rises by some observers initially predicted box office will generate total revenue of USD 170 million to USD 198 million in its inaugural debut.
But the premiere of the tragic events that were seasoned movie lovers who killed 12 and wounded 58 others. A man opened fire on the visitors who were seeing the movie premiere in Denver, Colorado.
Apart from the debut of the week that is not as widely expected, the film is expected to become one of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters this year.
